I suggest starting at the Mondrian Hotel for several reasons. First they have the best water view on the bay. If you stay late enough, the Sunset Lounge boasts the best sunset views on the beach, a rarity. Keep in mind though the hotel is located on the west end of the island, a distance from action on Ocean Drive. However you may want to carefully weigh your priorities because if you arrive early, cocktails are only $6 at 6pm, $7 at 7pm and $8 at 8pm. For a review of the hotel and restaurant, click here. Valet is $20. So taxi is the smarter option to get around.
Then you want to return to Ocean Drive. The Tides will often have $6 mojitos in the summertime, but not guaranteed. If you're more interested in variety, than budget, then do order their Tides Royale, their signature cocktail. Don't let the colors fool you. One of the flavors is coconut! Very refreshing and a favorite!
